What is the minimum TOEFL requirement?

Please refer to the TOEFL section of the website for current requirements. Note that many academic programs require higher scores than the Institute minimum requirements; see the program(s) of choice in the degree programs area of this website to determine the minimum scores required by each program. Since the results of this test constitute part of the material reviewed for admission to graduate study at Georgia Tech, students must arrange to have the Educational Testing Service (ETS) send their official scores to the Graduate Admissions Office as early as possible. Please use institute code 5248 when requesting official TOEFL scores.

The required minimum total score on the exams are:

  • The internet-based TOEFL exam = 90, with minimum section scores of 19 or higher on each skill area
  • The paper-based TOEFL exam = 577
